The following material
is a brief description of the traditional uses
of many essential oils and my own blended formulas. While you are using
any oil or blend of oils for a particular purpose you may discover
benefits not usually listed with that particular oil. That's what makes
AROMATHERAPY so exciting. Please share your experiences!
Ambrette
or Abel Mosk:
Abelmoschus moschatus: Moderately yang. This
oil
is obtained from the Musk Mallow, related to hollyhock. Since the Musk
deer is almost extinct from over harvesting, this is the best vegetable
substitute for musk. The fragrance is sweet, deep and flowery. It is
considered strengthening and erotic. It blends well with jasmine,
ylang-ylang, rose, tonka, geranium, lemon, lime, sandalwood.
Attar
of
Rose: Rosa
damascena; FCC Yin. The flower of the heart has
long been a symbol for completeness. The red rose symbolizes love and
desire, the white rose symbolizes purity. It balances the whole body
both physically and psychologically. Rose oil comforts in times of
sorrow, lightens sadness, and opens the heart. The grieving or heavy
heart cannot properly balance the body's energies and makes us more
vulnerable to illness. Rose oil will gently dissolve the blockage. It
may take on the quality of tonic or relaxant. It cleanses the vascular,
digestive, reproductive and nervous system. It is a popular oil for
pregnancy and birth. It is used for menstruation, vaginitis, fever,
wounds, shingles, herpes, all skin types. This is one of the most
expensive oils. If you see it priced low, it is either cut or a
synthetic copy.
Basil:
Ocimum basilicum: FCC Moderately yang. It is an herb of Leo and
the Sun, noble and kingly with a sweet, floral, spicy fragrance. Used
for indigestion, vomiting, gastroenteritis, earache, colds, sinus,
muscular spasm, anxiety, indecision, asthma, bronchitis, wasp stings.
In cooking it is added at less than .005% or 1 drop per half-gallon of
food. It stimulates menstruation so avoid during pregnancy.
Beeswax
absolute or
honey oil is a deep earthy, mild, warm
fragrance
having aphrodisiac qualities. It would also be helpful for allergies
and all things bee products are used for. It calms, relaxes and
balances. Good for colds & sensitive or inflamed skin. It
combines well with tangerine and vanilla.
Bergamot:
Citrus bergamia: Beragaptene free. Moderately yang. Warm,
citrus-like. Used for sore throat, fungal infections, vaginal itching,
fever, anorexia, colic, intestinal parasites, anxiety, emotional
imbalance. Natural bergamot oil contains a chemical that causes
photosensitivity and is used sparingly in some tanning lotions but not
used properly it causes brown patches and can cause sun burn. For this
reason we buy only BP free bergamot oil to protect our customers. Keep
in mind all other citrus oils make you more vulnerable to sun burn if
worn outside. Used at 1% or less it is helpful with skin conditions. A
higher amount can have the opposite effect. FCC bergamot can be special
ordered. It is the flavoring used in Earl Grey tea.
Birch,
Sweet: FCC:
Betula lenta. Betula is the true word for
virgin in
Hebrew and means separated. She is Virgo the one mentioned as oppressed
in Isaiah. The virgin who "shall conceive and give birth to the
Messiah" is Almah and means a maiden or unmarried girl, not necessarily
a virgin. Birch works like cortisone and is used for joint or muscle
pain. Used for tendonitis, rheumatism and arthritis. Nice clean smell.
Interesting that Virgo's quality is cleanliness and purification. It
also is a blood cleanser, and contains up to 96% methylsalicylate which
gives it a wintergreen smell and is an ultraviolet absorber.
Methylsalicylate by itself is toxic, lethal dose in children 10cc,
adults 30 cc so use caution. It is a counterirritant and local
anesthetic, disinfectant and dissolves uric acid.
Bitter
Almond: FCC
Prunus amygdales: Yang. The popular flavoring
which
despite it's name, is warm and sweet.
Cajeput:
Melaleuca minor or leucadendron: Tea Tree relative with strong
antiseptic properties and high terpene content. Used for bronchial
disturbances, colds, flu, throat and urinary infections, diarrhea,
inflammations of the small intestines, parasites in the ascaridae and
oxyruidae families. It is also used for ear and tooth aches. Caution;
high doses may cause stomach irritation or vomiting.
Camphor:
Cinnamomum camphora: Yin. Used as a diuretic, for
constipation, depression, shock, respiratory conditions, acne, wounds,
rheumatic pain.
Cedarwood,
Red:
Juniperis virginiana: Yang. The familiar smell of
cedar
closet and pencils. Used as an antiseptic, astringent, diuretic,
expectorant, sedative, bug repellent, skin diseases, urinary and
respiratory tract disorders and possibly even cancer.
Chamomile,
German Blue:
FCC Matricaria chamomilla: Yin This tiny
daisy-like yellow and white flower yields a thick deep indigo blue oil.
The color is caused by the high amount of azulene it contains. For this
reason it is an excellent pain reliever and anti-inflammatory oil. The
fragrance is slightly fruity but very deep. It is calming &
used for colitis, gallbladder, colic, fever, eczema, cramps, PMS,
allergies, anger, insomnia, depression, irritated skin, hair care,
sunburn.
Chamomile,
Roman:
Anthemis nobilis: FCC Yin. Much lower in azulene
content but is less expensive and a prettier smell. Same uses as above,
although it may not be as effective for tough problems.
Chamomile,
Morrocco:
Ormensis multicaulis: Moderately Yang. Also
called
Wild chamomile but it is not a chamomile at all. My reference materials
don't list therapeutic uses although one client reports help with
menstrual problems. I suspect this is true since "menses" is hidden in
the Latin name.
Cinnamon,
Cassia Bark:
Cinnamomum zeylanicum: FCC Yang. This is the
type sold as ground cinnamon. Good for older people who chill easily in
the winter or for emotional coldness. It stimulates breathing and the
heart. It also strengthens the nervous system. Never use undiluted, it
is hot like cayenne. Try making your own cinnamon toothpicks by soaking
in a drop or two
diluted in water, then dried.
Cinnamon
Leaf: FCC:
The leaf oil is more like cloves; hot &
spicy. Never use undiluted. It burns. It is used like cinnamon bark. In
a massage oils, it warms body and emotions, helps recuperation,
tension, fear, creativity, nervous system, cramps, gas. It is an
antiseptic and astringent.
Citronella:
Cymbopogon nardus:Moderately yang. FCC Fresh citrus scent
used in cosmetics and insect repellents and flavoring.
Clary
Sage:
Salvia sclerea: FCC Moderately yang. Relaxing,
rejuvenating, balancing. It is used for cramps, digestion, bronchitis,
asthma, PMS, menopause, childbirth, headache, frigidity. It is used for
creative or intuitive work and can cause an overly euphoric state so
use cautiously.
Clary
Sage, Oregon:
Same uses as above but the climate in Oregon
seems
to have given the oil a sweeter fragrance. Nice
Clove
bud:
Eugenia caryphyllata: Yang. FCC Very spicy and irritating to
the skin if not used properly. Keep away from children. Used for
diarrhea, indigestion, toothache, asthma, lupus.
Clove
leaf:
Eugenia caryphyllata: Yang FCC. Spicy warm and sweet, a
little softer that oil of the bud. Antispasmodic and antiseptic like
the bud oil.
Eucalyptus:
E. globulus: Moderately yang. FCC. Used for asthma,
bronchitis, sinus, kidney or bladder infection, rheumatism, sore throat
or muscles, fever, emotional overload, acne, dandruff. It has been used
along with traditional treatment for high blood sugar. (also geranium
and juniper) With Melissa it is a preferred treatment for herpes
simplex. It is a cooling oil and too much in the bath might feel cold.
Fennel:
Foeniculum vulgare: FCC. Yin. Licorice type of fragrance. Used
for whole digestive system, colic, cough, hoarseness, hiccups, PMS,
irregular menses, moisturizing, stress, nerves.
Frankincense,
Olibanum:
Boswellia sacra: Yang. As the species name,
sacra, implies, frankincense is a sacred herb long used to bless and
protect the temple from "evil spirits". It was one of the wise gifts to
the Christ Child and I believe it resonates to the sacral chakra.
Frankencense tears (dried resin) burns like incense with a spicy, woody
fragrance. It is highly antiseptic and astringent making it a good
facial oil. It helps to heal wounds, smooth wrinkles, reduce
inflammation and soothes bronchitis and colds.
Garlic:
Allium sativum: FCC. Antibacterial/antibiotic. Good in the
garden to ward of pest and other demons and to fight bacterial
diseases. Can also be used in food but very sparingly. For medicine
most prefer the odorless capsules.
Geranium:
Pelargonium graveolens: Yin. FCC. Rose-like fragrance.
Calming, balancing, uplifting; Used for depression, tension, balancing
hormones, wounds, eczema, shingles, facial neuralgia, insect repellent,
inflamed or irritated skin.
Ginger:
Zingiber officinale: Yang. FCC. The best nausea relief I've
found, even the most severe morning sickness. If tainted food needs
purged, though, ginger speeds the process, otherwise the stomach will
soon settle down. It warms and stimulates the whole system, especially
the digestive system. It regulates moisture and raised the body
temperature.. It is used for colds, flu, headaches, muscle tension, it
is antiseptic, relieves flatulence and helps with impotence.
Grapefruit:
Citrus paradisi: Yang. FCC. Euphoric, fruity fragrance.
Used for depression, eating disorders, liver, gallbladder, cellulite,
circulation, jock-itch. As with all citrus oils, guard against sunburn.
Helichrysum
or Immortelle:
Helichrysum angustifolium; Yang; FCC. This
everlasting flower has a warm, herbal, woody, rose-like fragrance.
Immortelle has a strong psychological effect and helps people who have
lost contact with the earth or are too cerebral. It helps with cold
feet, literal and metaphorical, and those who received too little
warmth and affection as children. It helps one to accept changes while
encouraging one to look inside. It is used to increase dream activity
and remembrance and may guide toward stages of awareness. It is
detoxifying, blood cleansing, stimulant, antibacterial and anti viral,
expectorant, pancreas stimulant. It is used for lymph drainage, for the
liver, gallbladder, and pancreas both topically and orally in 1 drop
doses twice daily. Also used for all types of cramps, skin allergies,
dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, sinus infection, as a sunscreen or
after-sun lotion.
Jasmine:
Jasminum grandiflorum: Yang. No synthetic will do for the real
perfumer. Deep, penetrating fragrance. Used for the whole nervous
system, childbirth, pain, depression, bronchial spasm, sensitive skin.
Juniper:
Juniperus communis; Yin. FCC. Juniper berries are the
flavoring in gin, fragrance is fruity and clean. It should not be used
for acute kidney infections but is a diuretic and is used as a
disinfectant during ureter and bladder infections. It stimulates and
uplifts the spirits, raises energy, lowers anxiety, soothes muscles,
detoxifies the blood. I use it in my Party Punch blend.
Labdanum
or Rockrose:
Cistus ladaniferus: Moderately yang.
Fragrance is
warm, deep, spicy, ambergris-like. It is soothing and effective in
helping those who feel cold, empty or numb after a traumatic
experience. It is used for infection, chronic skin disorders, eczema,
psoriasis, cystitis, cramps, swollen lymph glands, oily skin, acne.
Lavender,
French:
Lavendula officinalis: Yin/Yang balanced. FCC
Clean,
refreshing fragrance. A balancing oil, used for depression, stress,
anger, fluid retention, dandruff, hair loss, burns, wounds, insect
stings, eczema, ulcers, rheumatism, herpes, infection, flu, colds,
asthma, high BP. This is one oil I use neat for stings and bumps and
bruises that happen with a house full of boys.
Lavender,
Oregon: This
oil has retained more of the sweet note of
the
plant, probably because they don't have the native wild lavender found
in France.
Lemon:
Citrus limon: FCC. Moderately yang. Used for infectious
diseases, colds, fever, asthma, anemia, heartburn, varicose veins,
rheumatism, swelling, oily skin, freckles, dandruff. Lemon oil is used
in European hospitals to disinfect. Studies show it will kill germs
causing pneumonia in three to four hours and staphylococcus germs in 5
minutes. It also stimulates the mind, helping the brain to think more
clearly and efficiently.
Lemongrass:
Cymbopogon citratus. FCC. Yang. Strong citrus fragrance and
flavor. Used in Asian cooking, stimulates digestion, kidneys, lymph
drainage, soothes varicose veins, is refreshing, astringent and helps
close open pores. Nice in a hair rinse. 20 drops in 3 1/2 oz. of
shampoo should keep fleas off your pet since it is about 85% citral.
Marjoram,
Sweet:
Origanum marjorana: FCC; Yang. In the oregano
genus,
mint family but sweeter than oregano. It is spicy, warm, relaxing,
comforting and calming. Use during anxiety, grief, sorrow, nervous
tension, emotional exhaustion, insomnia. Used for migraine headaches
with tense neck muscles. It calms excessive sexual drive. It stimulates
menstruation so should be avoided during pregnancy.. It stimulates
digestion and may help prevent flatulence and intestinal cramps. It
lowers high blood pressure and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous
system. It dilates blood vessels. Internal dose, 2-3 drops 3 times
daily.
Melissa:
M. officinalis: FCC. Yang with high yin quality. Also known as
lemon balm to us gardeners. It has an intense lemon fragrance. It is
used for allergies, asthma, herpes, spleen problems, circulation,
heart, headache, menopause, weather sensitivity, liver problems,
depression.
Mugwort:
Artemisia vulgaris: Also called Armoise and Felon herb. All
herbs named Artemisia are sacred to Artemis, Moon Goddess. It is an
emmenogogue, diuretic, diaphoretic and nervine. It is used for colic,
bronchitis, rheumatism, fever, suppressed menstruation and several
other female complaints including cramps and obstruction. It is also
used for kidney and bladder inflammations, gout, sciatica, water
retention. Culpeper used it for counteraction of opium. The Indians
used it for wounds, ulcers and poison oak reaction.
Myrrh:
Commiphora species: Yang. FCC. Aromatic, deep fragrance, bitter flavor.
Historical use as incense, in preserving mummies and is
another gift to the Christ Child. Actually, Mary's name is really
Myrrah and means bitter, the kind of bitterness that promotes change.
Used for mouth problems such as pyorrhea,
ulcers, bad breath, respiratory problems, infections, is
anti-inflammatory although it is not very heating. It is especially
helpful for yin conditions with wasting or degeneration. Caution while
pregnant.
Myrtle:
Myrtus communis: The fragrance is uplifting and euphoric.
Myrtle is used as an expectorant, for infections, to stimulate the
liver, decongest the prostate. It has hormone-like qualities and may be
helpful for the thyroid, hypothyroid, ovaries. Also helpful with anger,
respiratory tract, diarrhea, dysentery, hemorrhoids, immune system,

reduces pain, analgesic, improves circulation, promotes menstruation.
Stimulates energy, immune system, joints, appetite, digestion of
starchy and fatty foods. Useful with gallstones, adrenal glands,

epileptic.
Orange:
Citrus sinensis: Yin: Sweet, warm, sensuous, radiant. Used for

infections, viruses, appetite stimulant, hiccups, phlegm, coughs,
bronchitis, cellulite, eczema, bacterial pneumonia.
Oregano,
Wild:
Origanum vulgare. Similar to above but milder.
Patchouli:
Pogostemon cablin: FCC. Yang. Woodsy, earthy, smoky
fragrance. Used for viral infections, wounds, yeast infections, moth
repellent, aphrodisiac. Not too many people like the fragrance by
itself but it makes a good base note in a blend as it grounds and binds
the other oils together, giving it an earthy longer lasting quality.
One customer reports it helps her with ADHD, as does caffine. She said
they both mellow her out and help her to focus. This is an example of
an opposite reaction. While a person with normal brain patterns would
be stimulated and have scattered thought patterns with these
substances, a person with ADD or ADHD will have the opposite response.
The oil is chemically similar to marijuana, so much so that it can
confuse dogs used by the police in drug searches.
Pennyroyal:
Mentha pulegium. Long used as a bug repellant and to induce
early abortion or bring on delayed menses and expel afterbirth.
Fragrance is minty. As a tea it promotes digestion, elimination and
clears phlegm.
Peppermint:
Mentha piperita: FCC. Yang. One of the strongest of the
mints. Used as a flavoring as .1% in candy or .01% in beverages. I make
a minted lemonade with 1 drop in 1-2 gallons. It is used to help
digestion, colds, headache, muscle aches, diarrhea, fever, fainting,
halitosis, influenza, migraine, nausea, ringworm, scabies, etc.
Peru
Balsam FCC:
Myroxylon pereira: Yang. Antibiotic,
antifungal. Tall
tree in the Leguminosae tribe grown from Venezuela to Peru. It is also
a valuable mohoganylike wood. This one is reported to be a sensitizer
for those allergic to natural things so use caution if you fall in that
group. I use in in my Patchouli Gold blend.
Pine,
Ocean:
Pinus palstris: Yang. A protective oil that is an
antiseptic and expectorant, cleansing, strengthening, regenerating.
Used for bronchitis, emphysema, whooping cough, the respiratory system,
pain, gout, neuralgia. Be sure to dilute well as too much may stress or
irritate the kidneys.

Aniba rosaedora: (bois de rose) Moderately yin. Sweet,
floral, woodsy, nutmeg-like fragrance. Used for dry skin, the autonomic

Sage:
Salvia officinalis: Yang. FCC. Popular sausage herb helping to
protect from tainted meat and long used to chase away demons of all
sorts. Its name is derived from the Latin word for salvation. It
supports metabolism, homorne balance and the pelvic area, helps with
infections, nervous system, digestion, arthritis, bacteria.
Sandalwood:
Santalum album: Yang. Deep, spicy, woodsy fragrance: Moves
in slow rhythmatic waves so isn't the best for naturally slow people,
they would benefit from a faster oil. In the orient, sandalwood is
assigned to the rood-chakra, seat of the fertility organs and
sexuality, and to the highest chakra, the seat of wisdom and insight.
It is considered the fragrance of the "subtle body", the center of the
highest enlightenment. It is said to awaken the power of kundalini
(life force) and connect that energy with the Higher Self; to achieve
union of the body's delicate energy centers. Used for cystitis, ureter
disorders, prostatitis, gonorrhea, bronchitis, sinusitis, calming,
balancing, anxiety, isolation, insonmia, impotence, aggression, dry,
inflamed or itching skin.
Spearmint:
Mentha spicata: Moderately yang. Grown on an Organic farm in
Oregon (along with my peppermint and the Oregon Lavender and Clary) As
a flavoring about 10 drops are used in 1 lb. of candy. Used like
peppermint but is milder and safer for children. Used in the same ways
as peppermint.
St.
John’s Wort:
Hypericum perforatum: Named after
John the
Baptist because it bloomed on his birthday, June 24, and bleed red oil
from leaf glands on the day in August he was said to have been
beheaded. Early Christians used the plant to ward off the devil. It is
excellent for all types of sores, wounds, burns, boils and nerve pain.

and strengthens. Use during pregnancy, PMS, stomach, liver and
gallbladder problems. Nice flavoring.
Tea
Tree:
Melaleuca alternifolia: FCC. Yang. Strong, spicy, fresh

study in 1962 of 130 women with trichomoniasis (vaginal infection)

also used for cold sores but I have seen faster results with our Caley
Cream. Use for any respiratory conditions.
Thyme,
Red:
Thymus vulgaris: FCC. Yang. Hot herbal fragrance. It has
strong antibacterial and anti-viral properties. It has been shown to
kill staph even when diluted 1000 times. It supports formation of white
blood cells, acts as an antiseptic and antispasmodic, stimulates
menstruation. Caution:
Never use this essential oil undiluted. Avoid if
you have epilepsy, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure or are pregnant.
Tuberose
absolute:
Polianthes tuberosa: Yin. Exotic, sensual,
euphoric,
flowery. Very expensive and only about 33 lbs of the oil is produced
each year in the world. The plant can be grown if the tender bulb is
protected in the winter. It is found in my Aphrodite blend. The oil of
tuberose help to protect your boundaries and energy when you must focus
on another's needs or are in close contact with another person.
Vanilla
extract: V.
planifolia: FCC 10 fold: Moderately yin. Used
in
cooking at 5-10 drops to replace 1 tsp. extract. Calms, relaxes, mixes
well with citrus and rose. People with chocolate cravings may be
satisfied by inhaling vanilla oil.
Vetiver:
Vetivera zizanoides: Intense yin with yang rising: Heavy,
earthy, woodsy, improving with age. A good fixing agent in blends. Only
used in minute amounts since it smells like creasote. It is grounding,
regenerating, strengthening, aphrodisiac. Used for stress, anorexia,
postpartum depression, aging, tired skin. This is a grass-root oil,
that is, the oil is obtained from the root of the Vetiver grass.
Wintergreen:
Gaultheria procumbens: FCC. Yin. Use as a flavoring or for
sore muscles and to clear sinuses. Very strong, keep all essential oils
out of children's reach, but especially wintergreen, clove, cinnamon
and thyme.
Wormwood:
Artemisia absinthium: FCC: Yang. Anthelmintic, antiseptic,
diaphoretic, tonic. It is an intensely bitter herb used to expel worms
for jaundice, indigestion, diarrhea, weak digestion, boils, rheumatism,
swelling. It has a positive effect on the liver, gallbladder, stomach,
intestines, uterus and joints.

flowery fragrance. Used for high BP, tachycardia, PMS, fear, rage, self
confidence, frigidity, nervous depression, oily or aging skin, inner
coldness, nervous headaches, moisturizing, antiseptic.

Ylang 3rd, Bourbon:
Yin. Less expensive than 1st
distillation but
still very nice.
Capsicum
oleoresin:
250K cayenne pepper oil. Yang. Very hot, Use
with
extreme caution. It gives the heat to my Rhuemacare oil.
While the Nettle may sting if
applied without,
It
cleanses and nourishes if applied within.
As you can see each essential
oils has many used, sometimes identical
to another. Often the best way to decide between choices is to listen
to you nose. With a little skill in the art of blending harmoniously
you can obtain a synergistic effect. That is: 1+1 does NOT =2; it
equals the total qualities of each of possibly hundreds of chemical
constituents that make up each of the oils involved plus hundreds more
possibilities because of the new chemical compounds that are formed
when two oils are combined; which leads us to SYNERGY…
CAUTION:
If you have allergies be aware of your sensitivities. It is
very rare for reactions to natural essences but it is possible. If
pregnant consult you health care professional before any treatments and
use at 1/2 strength. A few authors suggest pregnant women avoid some
oils such as peppermint. I personally consumed quite a bit for
heartburn during my pregnancies but I will share the cautions I have
read. Pennyroyal should be avoided during pregnancy as it is an
abortificant. Listen to your body.

If gravity is the glue that
holds the universe together, balance is the key that unlocks its
secrets. Balance applies to our body, mind and emotions, to all levels
of our being.
It
reminds us that anything we do, we can overdo or under do, and that if
the pendulum of our lives or habits swings too far to one side, it will
inevitably swing to the other.
Dan
Millman "The Laws of Spirit"
Synergistic Thereaputic
Blends
The following formulas
are available as a massage oil, lotion, or pure
undiluted essential oils.
Ace
of
Spades
contains lemon and other oils that help with mental
clarity and centering. It should be useful during study, testing or
work. I used it on my son with a soar throat and fever. It kept his
fever down to 101* so we could avoid Tylenol and the sore throat went
away in a day. Myrrh oil as a gargle is helpful for an serious sore
throat.
Alpha
Care
baby oil
contains chamomile, sweet fennel, lavender and
bergamot which have traditionally been used for colic, cradle cap and
sensitive skin. It is in the newborn set or sold separately.
Anti-Candida
is a blend of anti-fungal oils to treat yeast or other fungal
conditions. Customers have reported success with athlete's foot. I
often don't have opportunity to personally test my formulas but had two
opportunities with this one. First I found out cutting someone's hair,
especially if you're clumsy and cut yourself like I did, is an
invitation to the candida parasite. Also, using that person's nail
clippers is another invitation. Diabetics will especially find this
blend helpful since sugar and yeast are best buddies. Venus, (ie.
sugar, sweetness and love) likes to be shared so if you hoard her,
those little yeast beasts are sure to come and try to control the
population. A tampon saturated with the massage oil is useful for
vaginal yeast. Apply the pure essential oil to clippers or scissors.
It is believed that
although men don't always show the symptoms, they
are the carriers and yeast is definitely passed from person to person
so it is wise to have your partner treat himself also. Beware of the
yeast of the Pharisees. The word means to separate, cleave or divide.
They believed not only in the written law but also in the oral law of
tradition which multiplied the legal burden, much like yeast
multiplies. But remember a house divided against itself cannot stand.
Pretty soon we have no freedom left. Follow the law of love. A few
drops added to water and used as a rinse should do the trick or the
massage oil can be applied.
Aphrodite is a sensual
blend named after the Love Goddess. I thought
about naming it Esther which is the Biblical, Hebrew equivalent. It
contains several oils considered to be aphrodisiac and are used to
balance the reproductive system and libido. It is a little pricey
because of the ingredients, such as jasmine and tuberose. Men and women
alike will find this blend inviting. A beautiful aid for Tantra and
Kama Sutra.
Autumn
Spice is a
more masculine fragrance combining citrus,
sandalwood and spices.
Baby
is a mild blend of Roman chamomile and Oregon lavender. It is soothing
and good for baby's sensitive skin.
CelluFight contains oils
to combat cellulite. Briskly massage into
troubled areas or use as a bath. Better yet combine both treatments.
Chivalry
is a masculine blend of woods, roots, grasses and leaves. Rosewood is
the dominant oil followed closely by lemongrass and Cedarwood.
Elation
(mildly yang) is suggested for depression, anxiety and tension. It
contains sandalwood, clary & lavender. It is intended to
balance, uplift and stimulate, yet calm and bring harmony.
Equinox
is a blend of nine oils including Roman chamomile, melissa, neroli,
& rose. It should have a balancing, exotic but refreshing
effect. It is a good room freshener. Use to celebrate and honor balance
and equality.
Eust
(yin) contains eucalyptus, peppermint, lemon and bergamot. "Eu" as a
prefix means good or well. It will have similar effects as the Sinus
formula but will be more refreshing because of the citrus oils.
Eye
of Ra
is a recent addition I developed for a stye Michael developed on the
underside of his lower eye lid. I applied the massage oil in a circle
around his eye, bringing it down the bridge of his nose also. It
assisted in draining it but I had to continue applying for a while
after it appeared to be gone, much like doing antibiotics, it needs the
full course. It contains chamomile, tea tree, lemongrass, cypress etc.
Femunique
(Mildly yang) was developed for the ways women are unique, especially
menopause. It is meant to balance and guide us through the cycles of
life, allowing us to become "Wise Women" as God intends us to be. It
contains clary, vetiver and jasmine, etc. This formula should not be
used internally since jasmine is an absolute.
Glandular
is a blend of oils for any of the glands (pancreas, thyroid etc.) I
haven't had enough circulation of this oil yet to get feedback. My hope
is that it could reduce the need for medication so be aware of the need
to work with you physician whenever using complimentary treatments so
you can adjust as necessary.
High
Priestess
holds a special place in my heart. It
brought me through a tough year. It contains 11 oils including, among
others, orange as one of the top notes, rose as one of the heart notes,
and rosewood and jasmine as 2 of the base notes. It is my (Tau)
signature fragrance and after a year I was ready to offer it along with
my other products. I use it as my personal perfume, but massage
therapists are using it for clients who are anxious or need centering
and grounding.
Icarus Sun Oil contains
sweet almond and jojoba oils along with several
essential oils to help tan the skin. Be sure to keep a bottle of Isis
on hand if you overdo and get burned. Icarus is the name of a
mythological character (and asteroid) who flew too close to the sun and
teaches us to stay away from danger by thinking through possible
consequences before we act.
Immunity
is intended to boost and stimulate the immune system. It has oils that
are anti-bacterial, fungal and viral. It contains patchouli to
stimulate the appetite the way marijuana does. I am told it works but
don't worry if you are overweight. It won't encourage unhealthy or
unnatural eating habits. It is a good oil to diffuse in the home or
office during cold and flue season or whenever you fear the great
plague.
Inner
Peace
(Yang) contains ylang ylang, patchouli and other oils. You may find it
helps with depression or hypertension. I sense it has an electrical
effect helping to purify the chakra system, improving the flow of
energy.
Lavender Lace (Yin) is
intended purely for pleasure, mine! I find it
relaxing and use it as a perfume. It contains geranium, ylang ylang and
lavender.
Lymph,
Daily is a
blend of juniper, and other oils to assist in
lymph drainage along with gentle massage. I put this together with
mastectomy patients in mind. I am still in need of feedback on this
product.
Lymph,
Weekly is a
blend of Helichrysum or Immortelle, Rockrose,
etc. It is intended to be used weekly, preferably with someone skilled
in energy movement. Please keep the feedback coming so I can serve you
well.
Mamma
(yin) is intended for use during pregnancy and childbirth. It can also
be helpful when discontinuing breastfeeding. It contains clary,
vetiver, jasmine and lavender. These herbs are traditionally used for
stretch marks, loose skin, balancing hormones and as a uterine tonic.
If massaged into the perineum during pregnancy it may help it to
stretch enough during the birth to eliminate the need for stitches. Not
internal.
Michael
is a very sensual blend of oils used as aphrodisiacs. It is named after
my favorite archangle. Michael means "Who is like God?" Perfect for
turning what might have been only a physical union into a spiritual
union, don't you think? Michael is the archangle of the Sun so it may
help you shine like a star.
Mobility
(yang) contains juniper, capsican, lavender, thyme and clary. It is
intended to stimulate and regenerate nerves. It should also be useful
for stiffness and soreness.
Narnia (yin) is intended
for children young and old. It contains
vanilla, melissa and tangerine. It would work well as a room freshener
also.
New
Moon
is a blend of oils for Menorrhagia. Notice the word Hag hidden there.
Hecate the dark moon goddess was called the hag. Menorrhagia is any
abnormal bleeding or clotting. Always have a check up if this occurs in
case there is a real problem. I put this together when I was spotting
between cycles. I massaged it on my abdomen during one cycle and the
problem was gone.
Patchouli
Gold (yang)
has 7 other oils added to patchouli to soften
the affect while still keeping its masculine quality. It contains
bergamot, jasmine, cinnamon, peru balsam, among others.
PMS
(yang) contains clary, ylang ylang, fennel and chamomile. Use for
cramps, hormone imbalance, depression, irregular menses, etc.
Rose Garden (yin) is for
rose lovers. It contains attar of rose,
geranium, and others. It is balancing, sensual and uplifting.
Sinus
(yin) contains eucalyptus, lemon eucalyptus and camphor. It is intended
to clear the mucus membrane, cool a fever, inhibit germs, and may even
loosen stiff muscles. Sniff for 3 to 5 minutes and sinus headache goes
away.
Sterling
Rose (yang)
was intended purely for pleasure but a
customer reports it was very helpful for her bad knees used in the
bath. It contains geranium, patchouli and bergamot.
Stretchease
is a blend, when used as a massage oil, that should minimize stretch
marks. Use it on a daily basis during pregnancy.
TLC
(yang) contains Tea tree, Lemon and Camphor to give tender loving care
while fighting colds and flu. It has similar qualities to the Sinus
formula but is a little more pleasant to the nose.
Tuscany
is another more masculine blend containing Clary, Sandalwood,
Cedarwood, benzoin, lemongrass, tangerine.
Vericlose Vein is gently
massaged in an upward motion over varicose
veins or spider veins. Don’t be too vigorous or aggressive.
The fragrance is pleasant and cleansing.
Winter Solstice contains
cinnamon, frankensence, myrrh, and others.
Originally I named it Noel for the holiday season but felt this title
was more appropriate.
CAUTION:
If you have allergies be aware of your sensitivities. It is very rare
for reactions to natural essences but it is possible. If pregnant
consult you health care professional before any treatments and use at
1/2 strength. A few authors suggest pregnant women avoid some oils such
as peppermint. I personally consumed quite a bit for heartburn during
my pregnancies but I will share the cautions I have read. Pennyroyal
should be avoided during pregnancy as it is an abortificant. Listen to
your body.

Caley
Cream and other Products
All
our Caley products contain oils that nourish, penetrate and moisturize
skin. Calendula
and Comphrey, the two herbs that the product
is named
for, along with lemon and bergamot have been traditionally used for
general healing, rheumatism, chilblains, varicose veins, hemorrhoids,
enteritis, liver and stomach problems, psoriasis, anxiety, burns,
wounds, bruises and as an antiseptic. Comphrey is also called knit-bone
because of its tradition use for broken bones. It contains allentoin
which stimulates cell production. In my experience, though, products
that contain just allentoin are missing something found in the whole
plant and it doesn't heal as well as comphrey root.
Caley
Cream:
I developed this ointment in 1991 for my fifth
son's diaper rash. Completely by accident I found it was helpful for
psoriasis and other skin conditions. I have never used a better healing
cream.
Caley
Gold
contains the addition of goldenseal, myrrh and tea tree oils
for cuts and infections or general wound healing. If the diaper rash is
caused by a bacteria this is the best.
Caley
Lip Balm is
Tangerine flavored and contains essential oils
especially for winter care.
Caley
Rhuemacare
is intended to be used for any rheumatic
problems ranging from bronchitis to arthritis, for sports injuries,
inflammation or pain. The base is our caley oil with benzoin, blue
chamomile, eucalyptus and clary oils. The official "active" ingredient
is capsicum (cayenne) oil so be careful not to rub your eyes with it on
your hands.
Caley
Osteocare
oil contains wintergreen, peppermint, etc. It has the
traditional "Bengay" type of smell without the unnecessary synthetic
ingredients. This formula is good for people who are a little hot
(emotions, temper etc) and could use a little cooling down.
Caley
BBB (bones,
bumps & bruises) contains arnica,
traditionally used for sprains or other blows to the bones or muscles
but should not be used on open wounds. Comphrey has been called
knitbone throughout history because of its ability to mend broken bones
or generate other kinds of living cell tissue.
Alpha
Care Herbal Extract
contains the wonderful "Swedish Bitters" and
witch hazel in an alcohol base. I used it on my last baby's umbilical
stump and it dropped in half the time. I also believe it helped with
the usual newborn jaundice since he was the only one out of sixth that
showed no sign of it. The herbs in it are recommended for liver
ailments so I'm not surprised. It would also be soothing and astringent
to hemorrhoids. It is in the newborn gift set.
Alpha
Care Oil
contains oils good for cradle cap on the head or colic
if massaged onto the tummy. It is part of the Newborn Set.
Alpha
Care Ear Oil
also contains Swedish Bitters blended with Sweet oil
traditionally used for ear infections. My 1st four sons all made the
routine trips to the doctor during their infant and toddler years but
my last two sons have never needed the doctor and usually only one or
two applications of the ear oil. Alcohol and oil separates so it has to
be shaken each use.
Alpha
Care Castle Soap
is a gentle natural liquid soap with lavender
oil. All of the Alpha Care products are in the newborn set along with a
jar of caley cream.
Isis
Burn Spray
contains aloe which is known to heal burns but Isis is
superior in reliving the pain because of lavender and other
ingredients. Stored in the fridge, it feels even better. It also gives
temporary relief with certain itching.
Jewel
Lotion for
poison ivy and other irritations like nettle rash
contains an alcohol extract of jewel weed, found growing near poison
ivy, along with lavender to sooth.
Hand
and Body Lotion
is all natural (with the exception of 2
preservatives necessary for long shelf life. It contains no mineral oil
(jojoba and apricot oil instead) or alcohol. It nourishes and protects.
Mineral
Bath Salts
is a blend of Soda and Sea Salt. It is cleansing and
draws out toxins. Follow with massage and bath oil.

The
car diffuser plugs into the lighter receptacle, the Amrita Ball
plugs into the wall. Both come with several replacement felts.
The
ceramic diffuser comes in ebony, ivory, blue, and rose. The Geode
